NHTSA's New Driverless Exemption for Last Mile Delivery

Nuro scored a first driverless exemption for it's low speed self-driving vehicle by the NHTSA. The two year exception allows Nuro to deploy its growing fleet vehicles without required mirrors and windshield items. Nuro is focused on last package delivery without humans.

“Since this is a low-speed self-driving delivery vehicle, certain features that the Department traditionally required – such as mirrors and a windshield for vehicles carrying drivers – no longer make sense,” said U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao.
